In March 2004, CheckPoint began reporting hospital quality and safety measures.
Over time, additional measures are added which increase the number of diseases and
procedures reported on. In addition, the same data may be presented in more than
one way to better explain the information.
The WHA Board of Directors has approved the addition of the new measures listed
below:
Mortality, Volume and Utilization Measures – Mortality, Volume and Utilization measures
for many common diagnoses and procedures will be added to the CheckPoint Web site
in the fall of 2007. This information is created using the
Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ)
Inpatient Quality Indicators (IQI) method.
Perinatal Measures - Measures relating to childbirth and the care of the mother and
baby will be added to CheckPoint. These measures have not yet been determined but
it is expected the measures will be reported in 2008.
Patient Experience of Care - H-CAHPS Survey - The Agency for Health Care Research
and Quality (AHRQ) has completed a standard patient experience of care
survey called H-CAHPS. The National Quality Alliance will add this
information to the national hospital public reporting Web site, HospitalCompare.
The release of the final version of the H-CAHPS survey on the CheckPoint Web site
is tied to the national initiative. It is anticipated these data will be available
in 2008.
